Ukisha Martin

We asked neighborhood teens how decisions should be made about Jungle Hill. Here's what Ukisha had to say:

"If somebody wanted some play equipment on there for the kids then we could put a slide or a swing or two up there, but we couldn't put too much 'cause we have to have enough room for everybody's ideas up there, so we don't want the hill to be crowded, we need some room for everybody to come through -- the whole neighborhood to be around each other.

We don't want to crowd the hill up, so at least we could have a garden in one spot, and a little play area somewhere and some benches sitting somewhere, some nice green area for some people somewhere and certain, a certain spot but not having the whole hill full of crowded of everything and not letting it be all polluted over. You know, still take care of it and stuff.

And try to make sure that everybody's ideas get into the hill, that we don't just take a couple of ideas. Like somebody said they wanted a playbround, and somebody else said they wanted basketball courts, we just don't put in those two things, we use everybody's ideas in making the hill the best possible for everybody."
